"Curiosity into Obsession" (collection)
(Painting Progression) Oil paintings on A2 canvases, 10/04/24 My final outcome for my BTEC Unit 7, where I received the theme of Curiosity. Within this piece, I looked heavily at symbolism and research - I decided on the title, "Curiosity Becoming Obsession," and linking it to the concept of “cannibalism as a metaphor for love. I used fruit as symbolism for cannibalism, apple specifically referencing religious imagery and representing desire, and the offering and eating of a lover's fruit as a symbol for new, curious love turning into toxic, unhealthy obsession. I struggled with this piece a lot, as I had to complete an entire triptych alongside a written evaluation under the constraints of twenty-five hours. It was a gruelling and challenging process, and while there are definitely areas I could improve upon had I more time, I think this piece is very intricately thought out and I enjoyed the symbolism and the detail.
